Small groups, and what they leave.

Small groups
Twelve travellers at most. One van instead of a coach, one table instead of a dining hall, and paths that do not widen because of us.
Local guides, local beds
Every tour is led by a guide who lives where it runs. We sleep in family-run huts, guesthouses and boats, and about 70 % of a tour's price is spent in the place you visit.
On foot and by boat
Most of our days need no engine. Where one is needed, it is a shared van, a ferry or a working boat.
Flights
We do not pretend they are harmless. We do not sell them, and we do not hide them. Each destination page gives the journey time so you can decide. Longer trips and fewer of them is the advice we give our own families.
In the water
On reef trips there are no gloves, no touching and no feeding. Sun cream is mineral only. Our dive leader logs fish counts on every trip and shares them with a university survey.
What we measure
Group size, the share of the price spent locally and the number of nights in family-run places. We publish the three numbers each January.
