Marine biologist first, guide second. She will name every fish and tell you which ones to leave alone.

Sari, Sorong, West Papua

Sari trained as a marine biologist in Manado and spent four years counting fish on survey lines in the Dampier Strait before she led her first dive group. She joined Landfall in 2017. She still sends her counts to the university each season, and guests are welcome to help.

She leads our two reef trips. From October to April she is on the phinisi in Raja Ampat. From May she moves to Baa Atoll in the Maldives for the manta season, where the work is done with a snorkel and a tide table. On both she hands out a fish list on the second day and gives a short talk most evenings. Her one rule is simple: look as long as you like, touch nothing.
