The Aegean coast path
The tour · Sifnos
Old mule paths from village to village, a swim at the end of each day and a table by the water.
This is a walking week for people who like a path more than a summit. Sifnos is small, and the old mule tracks between its villages are paved in stone, walled on both sides and shaded for some of the way. If you can walk four hours with stops, you can do all of it.
The pace is set by the heat and by lunch. We start at eight, walk until one or two, swim, and sit down to eat at four as the island does. Dinners are your own, and Eleni will tell you whose table has room. Day five is a half day.
What makes it is that it is one island, done properly. You are never in a vehicle between the first ferry and the last boat. By Thursday the baker knows your order.
